In February 2026, I was invited to participate in a Talanoa run by the Australian Research Council in partnership with the Australian Pasifika Educators Network.
The Talanoa was held at the University of Melbourne in February 2026, facilitated by Reverend Dr Cliff Bird and Reverend Siera Bird. There were approximately 30 participants, including a diverse group of Pacific and non-Pacific leaders, students, community organisers, academics, practitioners, and advocates who are based primarily in Australia.
Participants brought expertise spanning human rights law, education, sustainability, community leadership, health services, climate activism, Pacific labour mobility, gender and social inclusion, and community organising.
The outcome of this Talanoa provided contribution to the The Ethics of Australia’s Shared Responsibility for Pacific Climate Displacement Report.
